The new Nvidia GTX Titan X has been announced and will be released on 2 August. Nvidia’s new graphics card packs some serious punch, but will also set you back over £1100-1200. Here’s the 2016 GTX Titan X’s UK price, release date and specs.

Nvidia Titan X release date 2016: When is the new GTX Titan X coming out?

The new GTX Titan X will be released on 2 August. As the 2016 GTX Titan X has just been announced, there’s no current pricing or availability in the UK. However, we anticipate it to feature at the main UK retailers: Overclockers UK, Amazon, Scan and Ebuyer. You can also sign up to Nvidia’s website for its availability.

As a reminder, there already was a GTX Titan X, but this model was released in 2015. Make sure you don’t order the wrong GTX Titan X! Unfortunately that Nvidia decided to keep the same name, as it will confuse a few people.

Interestingly enough, there was no mention of the card having a Founders Edition, unlike its younger brothers the GTX 1060, 1070 and 1080.

Nvidia Titan X price: How much does the new 2016 GTX Titan X cost?

UK pricing has not been officially announced, however the new GTX Titan X has a US launch price of $1200.

Converting this price to UK GBP and adding VAT, we predict the new GP102 graphics card to be launch at £1100-1200. Last year’s GTX Titan X was released with a $999 price tag in the US and £899 in the UK.

Given the lower GBP exchange rate in 2016 and the effects of Brexit on UK tech prices, we feel our £1100-1200 price tag is a good indication of the official Nvidia pricing.

As soon as we get official confirmation on the GP102’s price, we will be sure to update this article.

Nvidia Titan X specs: What features does the GP102 GTX Titan X have?

The GTX Titan X has impressive specs, which outshine the already-powerful GTX 1080. The new Titan X also one-ups the 2015 GTX Titan X, here’s the new GP102 card’s specs:

New GTX Titan X specs:

  • CUDA Cores: 3584
  • Core Clock: 1417MHz
  • Boost Clock: 1531MHz
  • VRAM: 12GB GDDR5X
  • TFLOP: 11
  • Memory Clock: 10Gbps
  • Memory Bus Width: 384-bit
  • Memory Bandwidth: 480 GB/s
  • TDP: 250W
  • Transistors: 12b
  • Manufacturing process: TSMC 16nm
  • Power connector: 1x 8-pin PCIe & 1x 6-pin PCIe

In order to illustrate its specs and see how it compares, we have an interactive graph below (GTX 1080, 1070, 1060, GTX Titan X 2015 & 2016):

The new graphics card runs on the 16nm FinFET Pascal architecture, which gives it fantastic power efficiency and performance.

Apart from its ridiculous CUDA core count, we find one of the most interesting specs to be its 12GB VRAM GDDR5X memory. Just like the GTX 1080, the new GTX Titan X has GDDR5Xwhich performs a third faster than the older generation memory modules (GDDR5).

The card has the same memory bus width (384-bit) and TDP (250W) as the old generation GTX Titan X. However, has an impressive 11 TFLOPs of computing power (up from 6.2), a 10Gbps memory clock (up from 7Gbps) and a higher 480GB/s memory bandwidth up from 336GB/s.

Just as the GTX 1080 and 1070, SLI HB Bridge is also supported on the new GTX Titan X. This brings better bandwidth speeds on SLI configurations.

It comes to no surprise that this card will be able to handle VR with ease. Given the GTX 1070 and 1080 were already more than VR-capable, the new GTX Titan X will be a VR powerhouse. Also see: HTC Vive review (a VR headset).

The new GTX Titan X will support Nvidia’s VRWorks Audio, a tool for VR developers. Speaking of VR, Nvidia’s VR Funhouse was launched on 14 July, which is a game that is free to download and allows you to play fun arcade games in VR.

The card will also have the impressive game-centric photography tool, Nvidia Ansel. The tool provides a way of editing and viewing different angles of your in-game screenshot. It even has the ability to take full 360 VR screenshots. On 14 July 2016, Nvidia released Ansel support on Mirror’s Edge: Catalyst.

We presume the new GTX Titan X will be overclockable, and we’re slightly afraid of the records the new GTX Titan X will break!
